Peach - 400ml
Made from recycled rice husks, this reusable coffee cup can help save a tonne of waste and help the environment by reusing rice husks that are destined to be burned, which isn't too good for the planet.
Untreated rice husk needs to be burned in order to disappear and that is terribly bad for the environment. Recycled rice husk, however, is biodegradable, meaning if you put it in the ground it will eventually break down and dissolve.
Rice husk is naturally strong, built of a naturally occurring silica that can help strengthen structures. This means it can be used in things like cinder blocks, brickwork, and other building materials and it won’t collapse in on itself.
Another quality that makes rice husk a great material for coffee cups, is due to the rice husks’ thickness, it becomes a great insulator, meaning it’s good for trapping in heat.
Please note - Huski cups do include a portion of PP (polypropylene). Huski have looked at lots of different materials and find this to be the most sustainable to mix with the rice husk without leaching into the drink. Our cups are made with Rice Husk (the most possible without them disintegrating) bound with polypropylene because its environmental impact is among the lowest of any material synthetic or traditional and is produced from natural polyolefin resins which allow it to breakdown and biodegrade.
While aromatic polyesters are almost totally resistant to microbial attack, most aliphatic polyesters are biodegradable due to their potentially hydrolysable ester bonds.
Card tag attached with string.
The coffee cups themselves are reusable and made from recycled rice husks, the cups are biodegradable and sustainable, however the little anti-slip disk at the bottom of the cup is not, this must be removed and either reused or disposed of in normal household waste.
