The shaving brush might not be seen as the protagonist; it undoubtedly plays a vital role in the zero-waste shaving experience. Indeed, a shaving brush is the greatest at foaming up shaving soap to create a rich lather that provides the smoothest shave. Using a shaving brush thus enable to avoid shaving creams and gels that come in aluminium cans or plastic packaging.

Using a shave brush allows preparing the skin and hair properly for a great shave. Indeed, brushing the skin in a circular motion is best for softening hairs and lifting them away from the skin to enable the best shaving experience. Besides that, brushing also scrubs away dirt, dust, and dead skin cells, which help to prevent zits and ingrown hair.

Traditional shaving brushes are made of badger hair or boar hair. Farming badgers or boars violently killed for makeup, shaving and paintbrush are inhumane. Fortunately, alternatives exist that are even better than their animal-based counterpart.

Firstly soak your vegan shaving brush in warm water for 30 seconds. Then squeeze the excess water from your shaving brush. Note that if the brush is too wet it will create a watery lather but if too dry it will be hard to get a lather at all.

Put approx a teaspoon of warm water on the surface of the shaving soap and allow to sit for 10-15 minutes to soften the soap. Once soft pour excess water off.

Load the brush by swirling it gently on the shaving soap for 1-2 minutes until a good creamy lather starts to form. Alternate the swirl direction from clockwise to anti clockwise to ensure the lather works into the bristles.

Start to paint your wet face with the lathered brush by using back and forth, up and down, swirly strokes or a combination.

Once finished shaving rinse excess soap from face and pat dry.

As with any skin care product, if irritation develops discontinue use and avoid contact with your eyes.
