Look Flawless With An Eco Friendly Foundation

An introduction to finding the perfect natural eco foundation

Natural and eco friendly foundation doesn’t have to compromise on coverage or quality, this is our guide.

Foundation is a liquid or powder that is used on the face and neck to create a smooth and uniform complexion. Often used to cover flaws and even out skin tone, it can also be used as a moisturiser, sunscreen or a base layer for further cosmetics.

Foundation was first used over 2000 years ago when some cultures who desired light, flawless skin, would slather their faces in white lead powder and chalk. As you can probably imagine, this was not great for the skin and the toxicity of lead even lead to fatalities. Thankfully, cosmetics moved on a bit and blends made of animal fat and tin oxide were used in a cream format to provide thick coverage.

Today, there are quite literally an endless number of different foundations on the market. Creams, liquid powders, gels, all promising 48 hours of lasting power, or the ability to shave 20 years off your age. In reality, these products rarely live up to expectations and can actually harm your skin in a number of ways.

Firstly when you look at the ingredients, many include harmful preservatives, artificial colours and waxy substances that can cause irritation. If you consider that foundation usually stays on the skin for a minimum of 8 hours a day, you can begin to understand why they might be bad for you. Issues that arise from the consistent use of commercial foundation include irritation, acne, blackheads and whiteheads, and rashes. They can also make your skin oily, or dry them out depending on your skin type and the foundation you are using.

Secondly, and just as importantly, there is the issue of the fact that many come in plastic tubes or bottles that we simply discard once we have used all of the product. For those that want a more eco friendly and sustainable option, it can be hard to source suitable alternatives- that is where we come in!

We have sourced a range of natural, vegan, cruelty free mineral powder and liquid foundations that are packed full of gorgeous ingredients that take care of your skin while keeping it healthy. With oils, natural butters, clays, and minerals making up the ingredients list, and all of them coming in reusable or recyclable containers, and in a range of colours- we have quite literally, got you covered.
