Description
50 cm x 74 cm - Microfibre Filter Laundry Bag
Guppyfriend is a wash bag that filters out the Microfibres in your synthetic clothing and textiles.
Although it is made from 100% Polyamide, this filter bag does not shed any Microfibres itself and is a scientifically approved solution against microplastic pollution from washing.
Guppyfriend may just be a measure taken to reduce microplastics polluting our oceans an water system but it is definitely worth using while we deal with the plastic problem.
'Our over consumption needs to change radically, and new materials, manufacturing techniques, clean washing machines and more effective sewage treatment plants need to be developed. This may take a while. Until then your Guppyfriend washing bag is a practical and effective way to reduce plastic pollution in our rivers and oceans.' - Guppyfriend Stop! Microfibre
How Guppyfriend works
Guppyfriend is a specially designed filter wash bag that catches the tiniest Microfibres released from textiles and clothing.
It is self-cleaning and is made of micro-filter material that doesn't shed any Microfibres itself. Simply collect the gathered fibres and dispose of them responsibly by putting them in household waste.
What are Microfibres
Did you know that many of our clothes are made up of tiny synthetic fibres also know as microfibres? Materials such as nylon, polyester and acrylic are made from synthesized chemicals and usually based on polymers, a form of plastic.
Synthetic materials such as these release tiny microfibres during wear and especially when washed. These microfibres then go down the drain, ending up in the ocean and water system. This has now lead to scientists finding microfibres inside marine life, meaning it is inside seafood, as well as finding it in our drinking water.
Material
Apart from the zip, the entire bag is made from Polyamide 6.6. it is untreated, undyed and does not contain any additives.
Packaging
Recyclable card box.
