When it comes to styling your hair, we know it is a lot easier just to reach for the nearest tube of gel or pot of wax when you head to the supermarket, but did you ever stop to think about the consequences? Once you have finished with your product, the packaging gets discarded and ends up, more often than not, in landfill. Furthermore, the ingredients that go into these gels and waxes are often not great for your hair and are just there to ‘look good’ whilst not actually achieving much.
But there are other options. We have teamed up with Rugged Nature to stock their line of waxes and clays that promote great hair as well as an environmentally friendly ethos. So what is in them? And what are some of the best ingredients for natural haircare products
Shea butter is great for everything. It is natural, gentle, and extremely moisturising but due to its consistency, it also makes a great base for hair wax. With a slightly nutty smell and a creamy texture, it holds your hair in place, moisturises it and makes it smell nice. What more could you want?
Beeswax is great for those with unruly hair as it smooths, straightens, and keeps your style in place. Other than that, it is known for soothing scalp conditions, promoting hair growth, and moisturising your hair. Not only does it make you look good but it takes care of your hair as well.
Kaolin is a type of clay that is widely used in skincare and haircare. It strengthens you hair and promotes elasticity as well as helping to repair damaged hair. It also has properties that soothes the scalp, treat dandruff, and encourages hair growth. Lastly, its consistency means it works well in hair products, holding your style in place and giving a matte effect.
Apricot kernel oil
This wonderful oil helps keep your hair soft and moisturised whilst you style, instead of drying you out like some other commercial products do.
