Cling film….the ultimate disposable plastic, use it once then throw it away to be taken to the landfill or it even ends up in the sea and oceans hurting the wild life. Then came the Beeswax Wrap, an all natural food wrap, a completely biodegradable alternative! The beeswax wrap is one of my favourite plastic free alternatives to cling film!
Carly and Fran’s The Beeswax Wrap Co created handmade all natural food wraps. Made with 100% cotton coated in beeswax from their local beekeeper, pine resin and jojoba oil. This environmentally friendly food wrap is completely biodegradable and reusable!
These beeswax wraps may smell strongly of beeswax at first but this will soon go during use!
You may notice your wrap beginning to crease, this is just the natural stage of aging. If looked after properly these eco-food wraps will last up to a year or even longer. If you use your wrap regularly we recommend you re-pasteurize every month.
Once your beeswax wrap is finally on it’s last legs just pop it into your compost, it’s 100% biodegradable. Or you can always use it as a firelighter, beeswax is great for getting a fire going!

About Beeswax Wrap Co
The Beeswax wrap co was brought to existence by Carly and Fran in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Being passionate about crafts and the environment, they developed a natural, healthy alternative to cling film, the beeswax wrap.
These eco-friendly wraps are handmade in The Cotwolds, where they use all natural materials and ingredients to make a completely biodegradable food wrap. Beeswax wraps are the perfect plastic free alternative to cling film, you’ll never go back once you try these lovely natural food wraps.
How To Use
So simple! Use the warmth of your hand to mould the beeswax wrap around a bowl, dish or a piece of food.
The beeswax wrap will stick to itself once warm and seal once it has cooled.
It’s a great way to keep cheese, bread, fruit and vegetables fresh as well as anything else you’d like to keep.
We don’t recommend you use them with pineapple, raw meat and fish.
Taking care of you Beeswax wrap:
- After use, wash your beeswax wrap with mild dish soap and cool water then hang to dry.
- Re-pastuerise (see more details) every few months
- Do not put in microwave, do not cover hot food and do not put near naked flame.
- Store somewhere cool and dry when not in use
Your beeswax wrap may need re-pastuerising every few months to re-set them. Set your oven to 100 degrees and place your beeswax wrap on baking paper on a baking tray and pop in the oven for 3 minutes, no more.
Beeswax wraps cannot go in the microwave and do not use to wrap hot food! Beeswax is flammable so please keep away from naked flames.
