Citric Acid is an odourless and colourless compound used as a disinfectant against bacteria. It’s viewed as a safer alternative to conventional disinfectant and cleaning products, such as chlorine bleach. By keeping appliances free of limescale, less electricity is required to operate them and they will have a longer service life. Citric Acid can be used as a substitute for white vinegar. It's also better for the environment as you're not paying for the water that makes up 94-96% of the volume of white vinegar.

Citric Acid is an amazing all round product with so many uses around the home, using it to descale appliances to cleaning the toilet, making your own dishwasher tablets and bath bombs the list of uses for this product is absolutely endless.

Much of the UK has some degree of hard water and it is very hard in the east and south east of England. The white deposits that build up on kettle elements are perhaps the most recognisable signs of limescale. They can also be found on taps, showerheads and even in toilet bowls and the grout between tiles. There are also limescale deposits that can't be seen - such as in coffee machines, washing machines, steam irons and the heating elements of sterilisers for babies’ bottles. The harder your water, the more regularly this will need to be done. Once limescale has built up to severe levels,  the appliance can break down altogether.

Removing limescale from your washing machine : Put 6 to 8 table spoons of acid into the drum and run on a cycle (90)

Descaling : Dilute 1 or 2 tablespoons of citric acid in 1L of cold water and use this solution to descale coffee machines, kettles, cups, taps, showerheads and more. Rinse with clear water.

Toilet bowl :  Pour half of this bag into your toilet and leave overnight.

Packaging - This product comes in resealable kraft paper bag and home compostable plant-based film.

Store in a cool, dry place out of reach of children.
